Announcing Stormboard's New Dashboard and Folders

Your Stormboard Dashboard has a whole new look and a new Folder feature that will make your work even more organized and efficient.

While the new look is available to everyone, the Folder feature is only for those who have Business or Enterprise Subscriptions. If you are interested in trying it out, sign up for a free trial and you will have access to all of the features for 30 days.

This new interface was designed with the goal of usability and ease-of-use in mind. It gives you access to all of your Storms (what we call your digital workspace), different team accounts, account and profile settings, Storms that you have been invited to, the new Folders feature (Business and Enterprise Users Only), your tasks, and the activity in your various Storms.

As you can see, things look quite a bit different than our previous Dashboard. This blog will give you an overview of some of the major changes and the Folders feature. For more details check out our Help Articles:

Switching between Personal and Team Accounts

Teams that you are a member of will appear on the far left-hand side of the Dashboard. You can switch between different Teams or workspaces by clicking the square icons. The very top icon with the Stormboard logo is where your Personal Storms are located.

If it is your first time logging into Stormboard, or if you are not yet part of a Team, you will only see the Personal Storms icon and a  '+' icon. Clicking the '+' icon will direct you to the pricing page of the website where you can set up a Team on your account.

Creating a new Storm

The Create a Storm button is no longer located above the Join a Storm button, instead, it always occupies the first tile in the All Storms view. Click anywhere in this box to create a new Storm.

Sorting your Storms

While in All Storms, you now have two different options to sort and organize your Storms.

1. You can sort by:

  • Alphabetical

  • Frequently used

  • Last activity

  • Starred

2. You can show:

  • Open Storms

  • Closed Storms

Viewing your Tasks and the Activity in your Storms

The newest addition to the Dashboard is the My Tasks and Activity side-bars.

When the My Tasks side-bar is open on the Dashboard, you will see all of your individual tasks across All Storms that you are a participant in. The progress bar at the top will show you how many tasks you have completed to-date. You can toggle between AllIncomplete, and Completed tasks by clicking one of the three tabs.

Tasks that are approaching their due date will always appear at the top of the list, with the first item in the list being the task with the next approaching deadline. Tasks with a deadline approaching in 5–3 days will show the date in orange. Tasks with a deadline approaching in less than 3 days will show the date in red.

To complete a task, click the empty circle to the left of the task name and a green checkmark will appear indicating that the task is complete. Completed tasks will appear under all active tasks in the All tasks view.

You can generate a Tasks Report in the form of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet by clicking the Export Tasks Report icon at the top right-hand corner of the My Tasks side-bar.

When the Activity side-bar is open in the Dashboard, you will see a summary of all of the most recent activity across all of the Storms that you are a participant in. Activity will be grouped by Storm. Unseen activity will have a red notification dot beside it. You can click the Open Storm button beside the Storm name to enter that specific Storm.

What is in the Storm Activity Feed?

  • Newly added sticky notes (ideas)

  • Comments

  • Legend color changes

  • Section moves

Stay up-to-date on what's new

You can access the What's New dialog by clicking the icon located in the top right-hand corner of your Dashboard. Here you can find new feature announcements, functionality improvements, bug fixes, and more!

How to Use Stormboard’s NEW Folders (available for Business and Enterprise Subscriptions only)

Folders are a way for you to keep your Storms organized.

You can create Folders for different departments, Teams, business processes, types of meetings, etc. There are no limits on the number of Folders you can create!

Private vs. Team Folders

There are two different types of Folders you can create via the +New Folder button on the Dashboard.

Private Folders:

  • Every new folder is considered a Private Folder unless the Team Folder box is checked during the creation process (the team folder checkbox will only be visible to Team Administrators). Your Private Folder can only be accessed by you (the Folder Owner) unless you choose to invite people to it after the creation process. All invited members are automatically given access to ALL the Storms in that folder.

Team Folders:

  • During the creation process, if the Team Folder box is checked, ALL members of a chosen Team will be added to that Folder and are automatically given access to ALL the Storms in that folder.

  • Only Team Administrators can create a Team Folder.
