Introducing StormAI
Today marks the official launch of our biggest, most exciting project ever! We are incredibly proud to introduce you to StormAI, the industry’s first Augmented Intelligence co-collaborator. StormAI works alongside humans to generate ideas, strategize, and collaborate more effectively.
For most people, meetings are unproductive and inefficient. Preparing for meetings like brainstorming sessions, business analysis, and strategic planning takes hours. Even with necessary materials gathered in advance and the brightest minds in the room, participants often don’t know where to start.
With StormAI, no preparation or AI prompt engineering is required. Instead, teams immediately benefit from automated template generation that produces initial ideas and builds upon them as users continue to input information.
Today’s StormAI release introduces two initial features designed to solve the most critical issues is meeting prep:
Automated template creation means that teams no longer need to worry about where to start. The platform automatically generates user-ready templates that are custom-designed to the specific use case, reducing administration time to seconds to make brainstorming and problem-solving more efficient.
Augmented idea generation provides intelligent suggestions, recommendations and insights to users as they collaborate in real time. StormAI leverages the ideas in the whole template, understanding their context based on the section they are in and adds ideas that understand the bigger picture.

This launch isn’t about releasing an AI tool for the sake of jumping on the AI bandwagon just to be trendy - our goal to change the collaboration game in a meaningful way.

Unlike other visual collaboration applications that use image-based templates without contextual understanding, Stormboard’s data-first, object-based architecture, is the first context-aware collaborator of its kind. Advanced contextual awareness means StormAI understands the intelligent design of Stormboard's platform. When users create new content, StormAI analyzes the existing content and data then proceeds to supply innovative ideas to unleash human collaboration.
Leveraging existing workspace data and metadata, users need zero experience or expertise with artificial intelligence to engage with StormAI. Compared to the ChatGPT which requires a significant level of prompt expertise, StormAI already knows what the user is working on, leading to improved productivity, accuracy, innovation and creativity.

What is Augmented Intelligence?
Stormboard’s approach to AI is different from many of the other flashy new tools out there. In StormAI, intelligence is not artificial — it’s Augmented.
Augmented Intelligence involves the integration of AI systems with human intelligence to enhance collaborative capabilities and decision-making processes. In this approach, the AI system is designed to work alongside humans, rather than replacing them.
The goal of augmented intelligence is to create constructive collaboration between humans and AI systems, with each complementing the strengths and weaknesses of the other. This approach recognizes that humans have unique capabilities, such as creativity, intuition, and empathy, that are difficult to replicate in machines. At the same time, AI systems can analyze vast amounts of data and make predictions and recommendations with incredible speed and accuracy.

So what exactly is StormAI?
StormAI is an Augmented Intelligence co-collaborator.
If you’ve never heard of an AI co-collaborator - that’s because we just invented it. Essentially, it’s like having an intelligent assistant with instant access to the world’s knowledge in every meeting, brainstorming session, or workspace. StormAI is an extension of Stormboard’s core collaboration capabilities while also moving brainstorming, idea generation, and Template creation to an entirely new level.
Based on Stormboard’s data-first architecture, StormAI is context-aware allowing it to provide intelligent suggestions, recommendations, and insights to users as they collaborate. Instead of relying on user-crafted AI prompts, StormAI leverages existing workspace data – meaning that users need zero experience or expertise with AI to take full advantage of the feature.
StormAI is rolling out today with two major features: Automated template creation and Augmented idea generation.
New! Automated Template Generation
In addition to the existing 250+ out-of-the-box intelligent Templates available to all Stormboard users, StormAI allows users to create bespoke templates for your unique use case.
Simply tell StormAI what you want to accomplish, and it will generate a template to help you get there — including some initial ideas to get the ball rolling.
StormAI incorporates user input from the initial dialog window and proceeds to analyze the data within a Storm (what we call your digital workspace), automatically generating bespoke Data-First Templates. This can save users time and effort in starting from scratch, while also ensuring that those generated ideas are relevant and aligned with the content of the Storm.
New! Augmented Idea Generation
Augmented Idea Generation is just what it sounds like — autonomously-generated ideas to augment the data in your Storm.
For example, when users are creating new content within a Section, StormAI can provide relevant suggestions based on the existing words and ideas in that Section (and the metadata of the Storm itself), helping users to generate new ideas or expand on existing ones. StormAI's contextual awareness also extends to Storms and sub-sections, enabling it to provide relevant insights and recommendations at a different level of abstraction.
Importance of Data-First Architecture
Stormboard’s unique data-first object-based architecture is focused on organizing data in a structured, object-oriented manner. Data is broken into discrete objects, which can be combined and manipulated to create more complex data structures. Object-based collaboration is particularly useful in fields where structured data is a critical part of the workflow.
On the contrary, image-based collaboration architectures (used by all visual collaboration competitors) take a distinctly different approach to organizing and managing data in collaborative environments. Image-based collaboration is focused on visual representations of data, such as images, videos, and diagrams. In this architecture, users collaborate on visual content by sharing, annotating, and manipulating text over layers of images. Images in these platforms are not objects, and therefore have no contextual understanding and cannot be used as an intelligent workspace, unlike the Stormboard Platform.
Data Security & Privacy
One of the biggest questions surrounding the AI conversation is about your data and information.
Stormboard’s Data-First Platform prioritizes privacy and security by adhering to industry-standard security protocols and best practices to safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of user data. We send encrypted Storm data to our AI Service partners, including Microsoft OpenAI Service.
Unlike ChatGPT where your chats can be used to train their model, StormbAI data is not used by our AI Service Partners to train their models. The Storm data is accessible for a maximum of 30 days only to authorized employees for (1) debugging purposes, and (2) investigating patterns of misuse. Through your team settings, Team Administrators can configure what data (Personal Identifiable Information [PII]) from your Storm gets redacted before sending it to our AI Service partners.
Data Usage
As one of the initial AI service partners, StormAI uses the Microsoft Azure OpenAI API to transmit contextual prompts, as well as appropriate information and related Storm metadata to the Azure OpenAI engine.
Data Storage, Transfer, & Encryption
Stormboard and StormAI never use customer data to train the AI engine and all data is encrypted (both at-rest and in-transit). Data may be retained for up to 30 days in a dedicated single instance and accessible only to authorized employees for (1) debugging purposes and (2) investigating patterns of misuse.
All data transfer to and from our Cloud services is encrypted with Transport Layer Security (TLS). Stormboard's implementation of TLS uses strong ciphers and protocols by default.
StormAI Administrative Controls
StormAI is an optional service for Stormboard customers. It is not a standard feature, and therefore can be disabled at an account level at any time.
StormAI has no impact on the standard security model of Stormboard; when StormAI is not in active use, all data by default is protected by the Stormboard security and privacy protocols established for all customers, and has no connection to the Microsoft Azure OpenAI service.
